“The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.”

Paulo Coelho always wanted to be a writer, but was discouraged by his parents. At the age of thirty-six, Paulo Coelho decided he wanted to become a full time writer and quit his job. He decided on his pilgrimage to Santiago de Compo stela that he wanted to pursue his dream of becoming a writer. His first work was inspired by his pilgrimage. Coelho has written over twenty books, and sold more than sixty million copies. Many of his works are thought to be inspiring. His main goal is not to lead peoples’ lives. Paulo Coelho doesn’t write to help others, but to help himself.
Along with his inspiring books, Coelho also has many help quotes .One of his most famous quotes is, “The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.” To me the quote means, don’t give your opinion on something if you’re not going to change it. For example people shouldn't criticize someone if theye’re not going to lead by example, and show them how they should be. Just giving thier opinion isn’t going to change the way someone thinks. Don’t just be all talk, if someone feels strongly about something they should do something to change it.Many of the adults are talking about the way the nineties and two thousands kids are behaving,b
ut they fail to realize that they were birthed by people in their generation. Half of the adults who are complaining; do not set the best example for kids. They shouldn’t give their opinion on the things that the kids are doing if they are doing things much worse. Show them how they are supposed to behave by being a good role model. Be that person they should want to grow up to be, instead of being a hypocrite. The quote also reminds me of my old government teacher. He always told us, “don’t give your opinion if you’re not going to take action. Actually being involved, and helping shows more than just opening your mouth.” He always said that when we talked about not liking the way the government works, or voting. If you’re not going to get involved, then whatever you have to say is irrelevant until you start participating and taking action.
